Home Inspections

You found your house!  You and your agent put together an offer, and the seller accepted it.  Congratulations!!  That is reason to celebrate.  The next question is, “Are you getting a home inspection?”  It is HIGHLY recommended that you hire an expert home inspector who you trust for this important task.  Plan to spend about $300-$400.00 on the initial home inspection, which you will pay directly to the inspector.  Your agent should have some resources for you if you don’t know a good home inspector.  Lucky for you, I happen to have a few over on my Real Estate Service Providers page!

Other inspections you might have done during your inspection time could include, but not be limited to; a radon inspection, sewer line inspection, maybe a septic pump inspection, or well inspection, etc.  You can click each inspection type for further details.  The list of inspections depends on the type of property and your individual concerns as a buyer.

You are encouraged to do as many inspections as you feel necessary to be comfortable with the property within your inspection period.  Also, keep in mind that all of the inspections generally do have a fee involved and those are the buyer’s responsibility to pay.  Having said that, it is money well-spent for peace of mind knowing that you have done your due diligence.
